Wedding Poem

December 30, 2012

Wedding Poem

Their meeting began
with each becoming a familiar face
in photos of well-loved friends,

googling and facebook revealing characteristic traits,
Kev camping on Scafell, Em scaling the heights:
tents; snorkels; flip flops; cats; dogs and family.

Her aura is thousands of silver dancing stars,
his the blue of a calm Mediterranean sea.
He wanted to catch the stars, and she to sail the sea.

Their first date was to feed waddling ducks,
on the costal path in Cley-next-the-sea.
Kev favoured a ...

Camden Lumen Reading, October 5th 2012

October 29, 2012

Poetry Reading at Camden, Lumen Venue

Our hotel was only a few minutes away from the church, we made a dash for it in pelting rain,
got my umbrella tangled in another, the man in the tangle kept running, somehow I escaped.
Ann Pilling was waiting in the church foyer with her husband, she recognised me which was nice,
Ann had organised the reading through Ronnie at Indigo Dreams Publishing, she is a widely
published author. Angela (Lock) was already inside the reading room and it was an honour
to ...

Daniel's Poem (age two years and two months)

October 1, 2012

It’s been six days since I wrote a poem but joy comes in many forms, at six a.m.
each morning my grandson has woken me, climbed into bed and asked for my pen
and notebook to start his day, he likes my pen of many colours. I like his bold swirls
and circles, the way he draws smiles bigger than people’s heads, the way he sees
each line as something frames in his mind, this straight line is up or down and then it
curves round and zig-zags in changing colour and is superimposed with larger ci...

Unravelling Anna Reckin's 'Unravel'

August 23, 2012

Unravel

Unravel those French seams,

see if there’s a selvage edge:

zig-zag of tiny holes where the loom gripped the cloth,

             the close-pressed, ruckled warp

Ignore the little cuts of buttonholes, but caress

                                       the buttons,

                                       remove them,

                                       put them in a tin

Ease out each dart, each knife- edge pleat

Unsettle sleeves, unpick pockets,

            ...

Grey and Common Seals at Blakeney Point, Norfolk

July 30, 2012

24 July 2012

Twenty four degrees centigrade, after weeks of rain, hurrah!! We parked at Morston Quay
early, with our intention of a short walk over the boardwalk for some bird/wild flower
spotting. The boardwalk was grey and glupping and we were quickly told by a boatman the tide
was rising and we were about to get cut off! We headed back to explore the information centre
and then found a seat to wait for our boat. We had close ups of bees on thistles
and distant red sails (which looked black), a...
